1. Game Mechanics: How It Is Played
Originating in Karnataka, India (often called Katti or Mangatha), Andar Bahar is an intuitive game of chance played with a single 52-card deck:
- The live dealer shuffles the deck and draws the first card face up into the middle spot. This card is known as the Joker card (or Game card).
- Players place their primary wagers on either Andar (Inside) or Bahar (Outside).
- The dealer begins dealing cards alternately to Andar, then Bahar, until a card with matching numerical value (regardless of suit) is dealt.
- The side receiving the matching card wins the round.
The 51.5% Mathematical Probability Edge
Because cards are dealt to Andar first, Andar holds a statistical advantage of approximately 51.5% probability of winning, compared to 48.5% for Bahar. Consequently, standard rules pay 0.9:1 (or 1.90 payout) on Andar and 1:1 (or 2.00 payout) on Bahar to balance the house edge.
